about the Hall and Gardens
Castle Bromwich Hall was built between 1557
- 1585 by Sir Edward Devereux,
the first MP for Tamwoth. Sir Orlando Bridgeman bought the
Hall and Garden
for his son John. The Gardens continued to be developed by the
family.
Earls of Bradford and Lady Ida Bridgeman were the first
members of the
family to live in the Hall. The Garden was cared for by Lady
Bridgeman
until her death in 1936, her own private garden can still be
seen today.
The Hall and Gardens fell into disrepair and in 1983 "Castle
Bromwich Hall Gardens Trust"
was formed to restore and maintain the gardens
